Having worked in outbound sales since leaving school at 16, our founder Harry felt there was a real gap in the market for an outsourced lead generation service that truly mirrored the experience, consistency and output of an internal outbound team – while removing all the pains that come with running one in-house. With that vision, Home Lead Gen was born. It started in very humble beginnings, with no investment and none of Harry’s own money to put in. All we had was the belief in the idea and a small portable unit to get things off the ground.

We began the year with three clients, all in the renewable energy sector. At this point, Harry was still working part-time on the phones to support campaigns, while also taking evening shifts in a bar to keep everything moving. Then came our first major breakthrough, we secured a large utilities campaign that required several agents. This changed the direction of the business almost overnight, and we quickly began to outgrow our original space.
As we outgrew the small unit that gave us our foundations, Harry was determined to keep our overheads low so we could maintain a competitive pricing model for our clients. The last thing we wanted was to increase costs just to support growth. With that in mind, we made our next unconventional but very on-brand move, we purchased our second portable office. The only real difference this time was that this one didn’t have wheels! It was still modest, still practical, and still allowed us to scale without compromising the affordability and flexibility that had become core to our approach.

Within three years, we had to accept that we needed a larger premises. At this stage, we were still a relatively vulnerable young business – we didn’t have any long-term contracts in place, and the idea of locking ourselves into a 12-24 month lease felt risky. But we also recognised that to grow properly, we needed a more practical and more appealing space, one that would support both our clients and our recruitment needs. We also knew that if we wanted to elevate our brand, it had to start with the environment we worked from.
We were fortunate enough to come across a great space in Southernhay, Exeter, which provided us with a solid foundation and a far more professional setting. This move marked a turning point. Not only did it give the team a home we could be proud of, but it also opened doors to clients we may not have been able to win previously. It gave us credibility, stability, and the confidence to start thinking bigger.
During this period, we once again outgrew our space and found ourselves ready to take another step forward. This time, we moved into an additional modern office on Exeter High Street – a location that reflected how far we had come and where we were heading. By this point, we were running multiple campaigns both nationally and internationally, and the brand Home Lead Gen was evolving into something much bigger than a B2C outbound lead generation company.
We were now heavily involved in B2B work and had also begun providing customer service support for clients. This expansion didn’t happen through strategy slides or corporate planning – it happened organically. As our existing clients moved into new sectors, we supported them, and through that work, new types of businesses began approaching us. The demand for a flexible, reliable outsourced partner grew, and we adapted with it. This period truly marked the transition from just an outbound operation to a more rounded, multi-service business capable of supporting a diverse range of clients.

This was a pivotal period for the company, as we began planning how to make our offering cleaner and more focused from an outbound perspective. The Home Lead Gen brand had become congested with multiple services, especially as we moved into more complex campaigns and started working with clients that were far more corporate. We recognised the need to separate our offering into clearer areas while keeping everything under one umbrella, allowing us to present a more streamlined proposition without losing sight of who we were – a fun, young company full of motivated people who loved what they did.
At the same time, our rapid growth meant we needed to strengthen our internal structure. We began building out a senior management team to support both our expanding workforce and our growing client base. This shift gave the business more stability, clearer direction, and the ability to scale in a controlled, professional way while still staying true to the culture and energy that defined us.
With demand growing from both existing clients and new partners, we were finding it increasingly difficult to support that growth by recruiting solely in the South West. Exeter had served us incredibly well, but we knew that the North – especially Manchester is a major hub for outbound operations in our sector. Harry had already spent a lot of time up there with clients and watching his team (them lot!), and it became clear that expanding into Manchester was the right move.
We began building out a team in the city, giving us access to a much larger talent pool and allowing us to scale at the pace our clients needed. Harry now splits his time between both setups, ensuring the culture, quality and energy remain aligned across the entire business.

Onto the here and now!
